Breast Reduction Surgery
Breast reduction surgery, which they perform by removing the fat tissue in the skin and breast, is a type of operation applied to people aged 20 and over, whose body development is completed. Breast reduction surgery can be applied to people under this age only in the presence of medical necessity. They perform breast reduction surgery under general anesthesia.
They complete the surgery within 2.5 to 4 hours, depending on the size of the breast, using lollipop incision and inverted T incision methods. In determining the method, they consider parameters such as breast size, position of the nipple according to the breast fold, breast tissue, skin structure, distance between nipple and shoulder and hip.
In the lollipop incision method, they cut circularly around the nipple and then remove the breast tissue and excess skin tissue. They cover the skin by taking care not to damage the milk ducts.
In the reverse T incision method, they make an inverted T letter incision at the bottom of the breast. After removing the excess breast tissue and skin, the operation ends as in the lollipop type incision method.
Post-operative Process
After breast reduction surgery, the person must stay in the hospital for one day. They check at the end of the 1st and 2nd week after the operation. During the control they do in the 2nd week, they remove the stitches and use special creams to reduce the scars.
Thanks to the special bra, the patient can return to his daily life after 1 week of home rest. However, we recommend that you do not wear a special bra similar to a sports bra for 6 weeks. You may feel mild stinging and stinging in the breasts for 6 to 12 months after the operation. However, this feeling is not of a nature that will reduce the quality of life of the person.
Will There Be Any Scars After Breast Reduction Surgery?
In breast reduction surgery, as in all other surgeries, a scar remains. The shape and location of the scars change with the technique they use in breast reduction. After breast reduction surgery, inverted T, L or I shaped scars may remain around the nipple and below the nipple.
The scar remaining around the nipple ring is not noticeable as it meets the color change area. There is a thin scar going down from the nipple ring. The scar under the breast is not visible when looking from the front.
The shape of the breast is the most important factor in the aesthetic appearance of the breast. Rounded breasts and raised nipples are the results they want to achieve in breast aesthetics.
What are the Risks of Breast Reduction Surgery?
